2003 Land Rover Discovery SE

One of the fun aspects of what we've been doing the last 6 or 8 years of reworking and renewing Land Rover Discovery Series 2's is the great variety of build styles it offers our clients. This was a bespoke build for a local client and we all agreed it came out beautifully, offering yet another unique perspective on upgraded D2's. Of course the build, as always, started with picking the right truck; in this case a life-long GA truck with zero rust and exceptionally nice paint. Overall the truck had been well maintained by its local owners and it was with great regret that they sold it to us after the engine began knocking, as they all seem to do eventually. So first up was the installation of one of our remanufactured "Top Hat" engines, upgraded with ARP head studs and all premium componentry from the Elring composite head gasket to the Airtex water pump and the OEM "low Temp" grey thermostat. With the truck back to life we delivered on the clients wish list: Terrafirma 2" lift, steering damper and wheel spacers, partial factory front brushguard flanked by Britpart headlight protectors with the same for the taillights. Of course any premium build is going to include BFG KO2's; in this case monster 12' wide 32.5"ers. Up top he chose the popular Voyager "Low Profile" roof rack with matching ladder. We added the 6 outrageous multi-element LED driving lamps which feature eye-catching "X"-shaped LED DRLs (daytime running lights). Nobody misses seeing this one! Inside the client spec'd the popular 9" Alpine Carplay Touchscreen with Night Vision rear camera, steering wheel controls, and a convenient USB port. We added the black Lifetime Guaranteed headliner (after curing the usual sunroof drain issues, of course) and the HSE-emulating wood dash accents. The excellent black leather was reconditioned to a like new appearance, gorgeous French-stitched real leather lever covers were added, and factory All-Weather mats were installed. As always, it took a lot of work to sort out the usual Disco Demons and produce a truck that looks this good and drives like it looks, but if you are shopping a revitalized Discovery, we're sure you'll agree this is worth the effort!
