2003 Land Rover Discovery SE

The fun aspect of what we do - building custom reconditioned Discovery 2's for clients around the country - is when we have a client that gives us the freedom to build something special. This truck, built for a Midwestern buyer, is that kind of special. The color alone, the relatively rare and dramatic Vienna Green, puts the truck in a special category, but it is the thoughtful addition of custom equipment and finishes that make it really stand out: the Raptor-coated roof, bumpers and Terrafirma rock sliders together with 2004 fixtures like the roof rails and the "3D" lettering redone in a high gloss finish; bright high gloss powder coated Comet 6-spoke wheels pushed out by 30mm spacers and wearing 32.6" KO2s; Terrafirma front and rear light protectors; fender flares redone to original; black-out LED side marker lights; and the new-to-market Hella Valuefit 500 LED driving lights with Daytime Running Light elements. The aggressive stance is achieved with 2" Terrafirma lift kit with TF steering damper. Of course, the fact that this is a low-mileage truck that's been in SoCal from new means that it shows "Like New", from the defect-free paint, to the awesome flawless interior, to the rust-free chassis. We did, however, have to replace most of the exterior plastic trim with new. But, alas, like almost ALL '03 and '04 Discos, the engine was shot, low mileage and careful maintenance notwithstanding (liner lift that could be heard a block away!). So a new 4.6l "crate engine" remanufactured with top-hat liners, Elring composite head gaskets held down by race-grade ARP chromoly studs, blueprinted with all new internals was installed. It positively hums now! Inside the beautiful Alpaca Beige leather covers 7 seats and the rear two rows enjoy seperate AC controls. A small but very effective Sony touchcreen with Carplay and backup camera modernizes the dash without being overbearing and crushes it through the HarmonKardon stereo with upgraded subwoofers. Of course, we installed a new headliner with our Lifetime Guarantee after carefully resealing the sunroof drains to prevent unhappiness down the road. A lot of work, for sure, but what a result!
