2003 Land Rover Discovery SE

The dictionary has an alternate definition of "unicorn" as "something that is highly desirable but difficult to find or obtain". I think that's an apt description of this gorgeous 2003 Bonatti Grey on Black SE with only 59,550 miles! But aside from ultra-low miles, adding to its desirability is the superb overall condition of the vehicle. It pretty much defies its age with crystal clear paint, excellent plastic trim, a terrific interior, and the smooth running and smooth handling feel you'd expect of a sub-60k Discovery. The vehicle comes to us from Florida (purportedly from an older Asian couple who had it 18 years!) where it was garage-kept from all appearances. We believe that because it is virtually unheard-of for a 20-year old Discovery in a dark metallic finish to have not suffered clear coat fade unless... Also, the dash is flat as Kansas and the FL sun invariably shrinks and rolls up the dash padding. Be that as it may, the truck looks about as "factory fresh" as any we've seen in the 8 years and 150+ D2s we've sold. The truck is so very original and we wanted to keep it that way so about the only mod we did was to upgrade the tires to new Nexen Roadian AT Pro8 tires in a +1.5" dimension, giving the truck better stance and safer, surer ride. But we also wanted to make sure it was well prepared for sale to its next owner so we did an ultra-thorough 60,000 Major Service. This included new WBR pads and rotors all round, new wires and plugs (OEM style Champions), new fluids and filters (Rotella 15/40 with a dose of ZDDP, flush in new Dexcool, and an ERR3340), new belt and tensioners, and all new factory OE radiator hoses as well as a new OE "low temp" grey thermostat (runs a cool 188 to 195 even as ATL weather heats up). And we did a pre-emptive repair to prevent the "3 Amigos" from spoiling the party. Well over $3,000 of work if done in a conventional shop! We did succumb to a bit of vanity and installed our French-stitched real leather lever covers, but we'll be glad to go back to the original factory Naugahyde for the purist! By necessity, we installed a new Lifetime Guaranteed head liner. Anyway, I'll let the pictures and video tell the rest and please feel free to call me.
