2004 Land Rover Discovery HSE

The " Ultimate", eh? Now that we have your attention we'll have to answer the obvious question: "So what makes it so ultimate?". Well, for a start it is the top of the model line in the most desirable year of the model series: an HSE7 (High Specification Equipped) from the 2004 model year, the last Gen2 and the only one of the series with a locking center differential (save a few 1999's). The HSE's, stood out for their unique upgrade equipment such as the marvelous premium Harmon Kardon sound system, some additional real wood accents, special wheel design, a heated windshield, rear parking "beepers", and originally, rear air shocks and a hilariously low-tech GPS system (both of which have been updated on this truck). Very importantly, seven passenger HSE's came with separately controlled Rear Air Conditioning! But to be THE ultimate Ultimate, a "one of one", you have to be uniquely special and as such, truck has several stand-out attributes you are not likely to find anywhere else. Most significantly is a major re-engineering under the hood that includes a fully remanufactured engine with the "must have" top-hat cylinder liners and super duty ARP head gasket studs to eliminate the age-old gasket failures that plagued this line. This engine is so good, it comes with a 1 YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY!! Equally importantly, the cooling system has been upgraded and re-engineered with top-shelf componentry like the Aertex high-volume water pump, and the hugely successful Inline Thermostat conversion. The later dramatically drops engine op temps by up to 40 degrees (225+ to 188), truly eliminating overheating, the #1 cause of Disco engine failure. To be THE one, your condition has to be head and shoulders above the "others". And this truck clearly fills that bill with deep, lustrous paint all over, no fade or damage, and super straight original bodywork, This carries into the interior where the seats, dash, and door panels simply do not show their age (of course, we did install a new tech headliner). Even the original "Comet" style wheels appear simply "factory fresh" with no curb damage or "wash out". Lastly, its important to note that this was a Southern truck (SC) so it suffers none of the indignity of rust so typical of others. As befitting the "top of the line", we updated the truck technologically with the wonderful Pioneer 10" touchscreen with wireless CarPlay and vivid back-up camera and brilliant LED headlights, foglights, and license light.
