2004 Land Rover Discovery SE

WoW! What an exceptional truck! The elements of this build were very carefully chosen by its new owner and we were very proud to be able to execute his vision, and what a vision it is! Of course, you have to start a major build like this with the right candidate truck and that certainly described this sub-100k mile black-on black SE7 with Rear Air from Texas! Talk about rarity! Of course we started the build by installing one of our time-tested remanufactured engines, complete with Turner "Top Hat" liners and strong ARP chromoly studs clamping firmly (80ft/lbs - try that with stock torque to yield bolts) on Elring premium composite head gaskets. Of course, all the engine support system components are renewed from the ignition coils with 8mm wires to the Airtex water pump, new OEM "low-temp" thermostat and hoses and reservoir. The client specified the ARB deluxe bumper which we subsequently equipped with a Warn 10k winch and to which we added custom shackle mounts and "quiet" shackles. The client also specified the eye-popping Hella 4000 9" driving lights which we converted to LED bulbs as we also did with the 4 Hella 500 Black Magic 7"ers mounted on the Voyager Overland roof rack. Likewise we converted the headlights to H7 LED bulbs as well as the stock bumper fogs (done in yellow LED) and the license plate lights. A 2" Terrafirma lift was chosen which allowed some pretty monstrous (32.5") Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac tires which have an awesome reputation for handling extreme weather. They are mounted on silver powder-coated Hurricanes. A very unique aspect of the build is the Raptor linered roof which we shot with an HVLP gun to achieve a smooth textured finish that looks great and is extremely durable. Out back twin 4" LED worklights come on at the touch of a switch for camping or tailgating. Inside the client specified a top-level sound system built around a Sony 10" touchscreen and an easily stowable 12" Kicker sub in the back. Alpine speakers on a custom crossover network give state-of-the-art sound quality at even block party volume levels. All in all, this was a well conceived build that has produced a very unique truck, one certainly deserving of the label "Land Rover Special Vehicle"!
